Biography
Albrecht Wellmer is emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the Free University of Berlin. He wrote several books, including The Persistence of Modernity. Essays on Aesthetics, Ethics, and Postmodernism (1993), Endgames. The Irreconcilable Nature of Modernity (2000), Sprachphilosophie (2004) and Wie Worte Sinn machen (2007). In 2009 his monograph Versuch über Musik und Sprache will be published.

Ruth Sonderegger is currently Professor of Philosophy and Aesthetic Theory at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her main fields of research are aesthetics, critical theory, and resistance studies. Among her recent publications are: Art and the Critique of Ideology After 1989 / Kunst und Ideologiekritik nach 1989 (co-edited Eva Birkenstock, Max Jorge Hinderer und Jens Kastner), Bregenz and Cologne 2013; Pierre Bourdieu und Jacques Rancière. Ido de Haan is professor of political history at Utrecht University. He is currently supervising a research project on the history of neoliberalism in the Netherlands (neoliberalisme.nl). Among his publications are books on Dutch political history (Een nieuwe staat. Het begin van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, ed. with P. de Hoed and H. te Velde, Prometheus 2013; Het beginsel van leven en wasdom. De constitutie van de Nederlandse politiek, Wereldbibliotheek 2003), on the memory of the Holocaust (Na de ondergang. Eva de Valk is freelance tekstschrijver en redactielid van Krisis.
Martin Boeckhout is als promovendus verbonden aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, afdeling Wijsbegeerte, leerstoelgroep wetenschapsfilosofie. Hij doet onderzoek naar politieke kwesties rondom materiaalverzameling voor biomedisch onderzoek. Deze recensie vloeit voort uit zijn onderzoeksproject, dat onderdeel is van het programma van het Centre for Society and Genomics, gefinancierd door het Netherlands Genomics Initiative.
