Biography
Richard Rorty is misschien wel Amerika's bekendste filosoof; in. plaats van 'analytisch filosoof' zou men hem beter 'pragmatist' kunnen noemen. Zijn bekendste werk is Philosophy and the minor of nature (1979).
Jeanne Peijnenburg is universitair hoofddocent aan. de Faculteit der Wijsbegeerte te Groningen. Pieter Pekelharing used to teach at the University of Amsterdam. He has just retired. With two co-authors he recently published a book on the power of the megacorporation, De macht van de megaonderneming, Van Gennep, 2016, which is currently being translated into Spanish and Portuguese. An English translation is in the making. His current interests are focused on the politics of higher education and the relationship between science and democracy. He is also working on a publication of his lectures on the history of philosophy.

Pieter Boek van Hensbroek is verbonden aan het Centre for Development Studies en. aan de Faculteit der Wijsbegeerte van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Hij houdt zich vooral bezig met politieke filosofie in verband met ontwikkelingslanden, in, het bijzonder met Afrikaanse politieke filosofie. Hij is lid. van de Exchange Committee, van het Prins Claus Fonds voor Cultuur en Ontwikkeling in Den Haag en redacteur van het Afrikaanse tijdschrift voor filosofie QUEST.
Yolande Jansen is an Associate Professor at the department of philosophy and the Amsterdam Centre for Globalization Studies of the University of Amsterdam. She is also a Socrates Professor at the VU University, where she holds the chair for 'humanism in relation to religion and secularity'. Her publications include Secularism, Assimilation and the Crisis of Multiculturalism: French Modernist Legacies (Amsterdam University Press/IMISCOE, 2013) and The Irregularization of Migration in contemporary Europe; Detention, Deportation, Drowning (Rowman and Littlefield, co-edited with Robin Celikates and Joost de Bloois, 2015). Areas of research are social and political philosophy, in particular critical theory, pluralism, multiculturalism and democracy; genealogies of secularism, humanism and religion; irregularised migration; Judaism and Islam in Europe; Islam in Europe; and French culture and literature, in particular the work of Marcel Proust. Jansen is the principal investigator of the NWO-project 'Critique of Religion; Framing Jews and Muslims, Islam and Judaism in political theory and public debate' along with co-applicant Thijl Sunier.
J.A.A. van Doorn is oud-hoogleraar sociologie en was als zodanig verbonden aan de Rijksuniversiteit Leiden en de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam.
Ries van der Wouden is politicoloog en werkzaam bij het Sociaal Cultureel Planbureau
