Biography
René Boomkens (1954) is full professor social and cultural philosophy at the University of Groningen. In his research he focusses on the social and cultural philosophy of modernity, interpreted as modern experience, with special attention to the crucial role of the city and of urban culture.
Jan Willem Duyvendak is sinds 2003 hoogleraar sociologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Zijn meest recente boeken zijn European States and Their Muslim Citizens (Cambridge University Press, met John Bowen, Christophe Bertossi, Mona Lena Krook, 2014), en New York and Amsterdam. Immigration and the New Urban Landscape (NYU Press, met Nancy Foner, Jan Rath en Rogier van Reekum, 2014).
Annemarie Mol is een dag per week Socrates-hoogleraar Politieke Filosofie aan de Universiteit van Twente. Lolle Nauta was emeritus hoogleraar aan de Faculteit der Wijsbegeerte van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Hij studeerde filosofie en sociologie in Groningen, Göttingen, Basel en Leiden
Marieke Borren teaches philosophical anthropology, political philosophy, legal philosophy, philosophy of culture, and gender studies at the Univer- sities of Nijmegen, Groningen and Amsterdam. Her expertise lies in the areas of political philosophy, feminist theory, and philosophical anthro- pology. Her research focuses on political phenomenology, a perspective she developed in her dissertation, Amor Mundi. Hannah Arendt's Political Phenomenology of World (University of Amsterdam, 2010). She applied political phenomenology to contemporary cases, such as debates on na- tional identity, irregular migrants, social movements and identity politics. Her present research further develops political phenomenology, by inves- tigating the fundamental conditions of civic engagement and disengage- ment.
Bert van den Brink is professor of political and social philosophy and vice- dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Utrecht University. His publications include Recognition and Power. Harry Kunneman is hoogleraar sociale en politieke theorie aan de Universiteit voor Humanistiek in Utrecht. Tevens is hij voorzitter van de Humanistische Alliantie, het samenwerkingsverband van alle humanistische organisaties in Nederland. Hij publiceerde o.a. De waarheidstrechter (Boom 1986), Van theemutscultuur naar walk- man-ego (Boom 1996), Postmoderne moraliteit (Boom 1999) en Voorbij het dikke-ik. Bouwstenen voor een kritisch humanisme (Humanistics University Press/SWP 2005).
Noortje Marres is als Marie Curie-fellow verbonden aan de Afdeling Sociologie van Goldsmiths, Universiteit van Londen. Haar onderzoek richt zich op klimaatverandering en burgerschap, en verkent de rol van ecohuizen als politieke technologie. n.marres@gold.ac.uk
Ido de Haan is professor of political history at Utrecht University. He is currently supervising a research project on the history of neoliberalism in the Netherlands (neoliberalisme.nl). Among his publications are books on Dutch political history (Een nieuwe staat. Gijs van Oenen is universitair docent aan de Faculteit der Wijsbegeerte van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam en lid van de redactie van Krisis.
Rudi Laermans is hoogleraar theoretische sociologie aan het Centrum voor Sociologisch Onderzoek (CeSO) van de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Zijn recente onderzoek en publicaties situeren zich binnen de domeinen van de hedendaagse sociale theorievorming, cultuurbeleid en -participatie, en hedendaagse dans. Peter-Paul Verbeek is universitair hoofddocent techniekfilosofie aan de Universiteit Twente. Zijn onderzoek richt zich op de bemiddelende rol van technologie in samenleving en cultuur. Hij publiceerde onlangs What things do. Philosophical reflec- tions on agency, technology, and design (Penn State University Press, 2005). Momenteel werkt hij vanuit een veni-subsidie van NWO aan een studie naar de morele lading van technologie en de implicaties daarvan voor de ethische theorie en de techniek- ethiek.
