Biography
Robin Celikates is Professor of Social Philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and an associate member of the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt am Main. He is a member of the Krisis editorial team and commissioning editor at Critical Times.
Étienne Balibar is professor emeritus of philosophy at the University Paris X Nanterre and Distinguished Professor of Humanities at the University of California, Irvine. He has recently published La proposition de l’égaliberté (Paris: PUF 2010) and Violence et civilité (Paris: Galilée 2010). Among his English publications are Politics and the Other Scene (London: Verso 2002) and We, the People of Europe? (Princeton: Princeton University Press 2004).
Franck Fischbach is professor of philosophy at the University Sophia Antipolis in Nice. His main interest is in the German philosophical tradition and in social philosophy. He has translated works by Hegel, Schelling, Marx, and Honneth, and recently published Marx. Relire Le Capital (Paris: PUF 2009), Sans objet. Capitalisme, subjectivité, aliénation (Paris: Vrin 2009), and Manifeste pour une philosophie sociale (Paris: La Découverte 2009).
Fabian de Kloe (1982) is a graduate student at the Faculty of Arts ; Social Sciences, Maastricht University. His PhD project deals with early twentieth century attempts by scientists to create and promote an international scientific language.
Pieter Lemmens teaches philosophy and ethics at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. He has pub-lished on themes in the philosophy of technology and innovation studies, on the work of Martin Heidegger, Peter Sloterdijk and Bernard Stiegler as well as on post-autonomist and post-operaist Marx-ism (Hardt, Negri, Berardi) and on themes from philosophical anthropology and postphenomenology. His articles have appeared in journals such as Techne, Philosophy of Technology, Human Studies, Krisis and Boundary2. He translated Stiegler’s Philosopher par accident in Dutch (2014) and co-edited a book on the philosophy of landscape and place (2011) as well as a volume on contemporary German philosophy (2013), both in Dutch.
Daan Gijsbertse studeerde Technische Bedrijfskunde (TH Rijswijk) en Bedrijfskunde (Rotterdam School of Management – Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam & Schulich School of Business – York University, Toronto, Canada). Naast zijn studie Bedrijfskunde in Rotterdam voltooide hij een bachelor Filosofie van Beleid & Management aan de Faculteit Wijsbegeerte van de Erasmus Universiteit. Momenteel volgt hij aan diezelfde faculteit de master Filosofie van de Maatschappij- en Gedragswetenschappen.
Ernst van den Hemel (1981), docent literatuurwetenschap, schreef een proefschrift e n boek over calvinisme, literatuur en politiek, publiceerde meerdere artikelen over het werk van Jacques Rancière en Alain Badiou en werkt momenteel aan een boek over Badiou en kunst.
Konstanze Baron studied History and French in Oxford and Paris and wrote her PhD thesis on the literary works of Denis Diderot. She is currently holding a Post-Doc-position at the Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies in Halle-Wittenberg, Germany (www.izea.uni-halle.de).
Lukas Verburgt is a research master student in philosophy, and studies political sciences at the University of Amsterdam. His main research interests are philosophy and sociology of science, pragmatist theories of democracy, actor-network theory, post-structuralism and neo-monadology.
Floris Solleveld studeerde filosofie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam en werkt bij de European League of Institutes of the Arts. Zijn onderzoeksinteresses zijn de geschiedenis van de geesteswetenschappen, theoriekeuze in de linguïstiek en ontwikkelingen in het kunstonderwijs. Daarnaast is hij actief als illustrator en e-journalist.
Thijs Lijster is assistant professor in the philosophy of art and culture at the University of Groningen, and postdoctoral researcher at the Culture Commons Quest Office of the University of Antwerp. He studied philosophy in Groningen and New York, and received his PhD at the University of Groningen in 2012. He was awarded with the ABG/VN Essay prize in 2009, the Dutch/Flemisch Prize for Young Art Critics in 2010, the NWO/Boekman dissertation prize in 2015, and the Essay Prize of the Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature (KANTL) in 2018. His publications include De grote vlucht inwaarts [The Great Leap Inward] (2016), Benjamin and Adorno on Art and Art Criticism (2017) and Kijken, proeven, denken [Seeing, Tasting, Thinking] (2019), and he was editor of the books Spaces for Criticism. Shifts in Contemporary Art Discourses (2015) and The Future of the New. Artistic Innovation in Times of Social Acceleration (2018).
