Joseph Wachelder is als UHD verbonden aan de vakgroep geschiedenis van de Universiteit Maastricht. Aanvankelijk opgeleid als theoretisch fysicus is hij thans werkzaam als wetenschaps- en cultuurhistoricus, met als specifieke aandachtsgebieden de zintuigen, media, popularisering van kennis en onderwijs.
